Who hasn't seen a magnificent christening dress or a baby's bonnet abundantly decorated with lace? It was very probably Valenciennes lace, the most popular type of lace. The elegant floral motifs contrasting prettily with the transparent ground are typical of this lace.
In this working group we will start with the basic techniques of Valenciennes lace. The objective, however, is to learn how to work out your own idea or to work a challenging design. Everyone can go at their own pace, of course.
Preliminary knowledge required: a good knowledge of Torchon lace and ability to read a working diagram very well. Knowing how to draw a simple working diagram is a plus.
