9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. & 1:00–4:00 p.m.
In the first year, you will become familiar with the characteristics and fundamental techniques of Beveren lace, a refined continuous-thread lace distinguished by its characteristic tulle ground and authentic motifs. Through a series of carefully selected exercises, you will gradually gain insight into the construction, structure, and distinctive features of this historic lace technique.
By combining practical bobbin lace-making with technical drawing, you will develop a thorough understanding of the Beveren lace technique. Drawing is much more than a supporting tool: it helps you understand the technical structure of the lace and later forms the foundation for analysing, adapting, and eventually designing your own lace patterns.
A solid knowledge of Strop lace is required for this course. Participants should be confident in bobbin lace-making and able to read a technical pattern accurately.
