Teacher training 2026-2030: specialised training in bobbin and needle lace techniques, analysis of lace and history of lace.
As a new class of lace teachers will receives diplomas at the end of June, we are already thinking about the next class.
A new four-year training course will start in September 2026 in Dutch and English. In addition to the full cycle, you can also follow the modules which particularly interest you. Sessions will take place every 14 days, on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 13:00hrs and from 13:30 to 16:30 hrs, except during school holidays. The content is not changing much but designing with Lace8 has been taken out; you can study this module more deeply in a summer course or working group.
During this training course, we will immerse ourselves intensively in the theory of needle and bobbin lace techniques as well as in finishing lace (soudure, sewing and decorating cloth). Thanks to the syllabus, there is plenty of time to process the knowledge acquired in a "lifetime dossier" and to design and work your own creations quietly at home.
Contemporary lace will also be examined. How do you express your personality in lace? Designing and the possibilities for working these creations are dealt with in detail.
The history of lace traces the evolution of lace through the centuries. Fashion and style are studied, which enable us to understand the importance of lace in a social context. History and technique are essential for learning to analyse lace and to preserve it for the future.
On the day of the award ceremony, Saturday 27 June 2026 from 14:00 to 16:30hrs, an information session will take place in the Kantcentrum, a chance for anyone interested in the training course to get information and to ask our team of teachers and newly certificated teachers questions about it.
